For this past spring/summer season, I loved mixed media, stripes and plaids and florals, mixed with pops of bold color, BOHO CHIC, tribal coming on strong, vintage, and shiny things. Shiny things, I have come to learn, are always well loved...sparkly things like colored crystals... and classics like Chanel. ...And now I set out to gather up my mix for sadee says web boutique for fall, where everyone can find something that will speak to them, convey who they are - pieces to help to express themselves, from the inside, out.
Its early in the game now for Fall, but already I feel a movement in a very different direction. A movement toward luxe, to more classic clothing, but still with an edge and a bit more relaxed though. Still big will be fur, big sunglasses, and the continual love affair with the strangest shoes and socks in a good way. ...combinations which one would have never before conceived of putting together with a particular outfit.
For summer I felt friendship bracelets, woven mixed media statement necklaces, bold and beautiful montages made of shreds of colorful cloth wrapped up with chains, crystals dangling, and fringe, fringe, and more fringe. The fringe could be made of leather and suede and metals. I also felt feather earrings evoking the 60's, pops of color in shoes that match nothing at all, stackable fun bracelets, hippie necklaces, clogs ,bell bottoms, floppy hats and rocker chic as well. All of these things still have a strong influence now. Let's not forget black leather spikes, darker metals, more architectural pieces, 2 or 3 finger rings. And so I took that all in, and made my picks and achieved my mix for Sadee Says spring/summer.
In fashion, you have to live a year, a season ahead, and so I am thinking about Fall now before it is even spring. What do I feel? I feel classic relaxed slacks, fur still, fuzzy tops, a resurgence of hats of all kinds (a tip of the hat to kate), not too structured, but tailored luxe clothing in a loose fitted 70's sort of way, and opposite textures as in slip dresses with bulky wraps over them.
In jewelry I'm feeling rings, wood with crystalized stones, big statement rings on every finger, and hanging on chains. I also feel more structure in cuffs and chokers, cleaner bolder more classic pieces, more metal in jewelry, especially a resurgence of rose gold. But more importantly I feel the return of more long layered, more delicate, multiple necklaces, and pearls, pearls, and more pearls, and still Chanel. The wilder statements being left to be made with hair, nail polish and shoes, more than jewelry.
Oversized bags or cool cluches will be big too.
…And so off I go on my visual magical mystery tour, to find these baubles and embellishments to bring to you. I do my research, I wade thru a gazillion options and try to come up with a mix which offers something for everyone and then that gets edited down and amended over time, sifted thru like grains of sand, until what remains is not only what I love, but what i think you will love too.
The thrill of the chase and the score, my love of people watching and my writing all have helped me here, and my desire to share my lust filled finds with others all have inspired me, This is just sneak peak at the process I go through in my 30 plus years in this business. Maybe this year, we will sift together as a team, and come up with something even more dazzling than before, so that it will hopefully just take your breath away! Cheers! Sadee Says!
